Privacy Policy

1. Data collection by the developer

The developer does not collect your diary text, photos, videos, audio, locations, weather, past moods or settings on a developer-operated server. Maps, place searches, optional weather and backups to a destination you choose may send necessary data to the corresponding service provider. The app has no account registration or developer-operated analytics.

Planned advertising update: The currently released version 1.3 has no ads as of September 22, 2026. A future ad-supported version is planned to show Google AdMob banners to free users. The advertising information below applies to that future ad-supported version.

2. Information stored on your device

Entries, photos, videos, audio, locations, weather, settings and drafts are stored locally. Deleted entries stay in Trash for 30 days and can be restored or permanently deleted. Expired entries are removed during app use. Daily afterwords are stored separately.

Deleting the app normally deletes its local data. Photos copied to the Photos app must be deleted separately from Photos.

3. Access to device features

The app may request Camera, Microphone, Speech Recognition, Location, Photos Add and Notifications permissions for their related optional features. The system photo picker reads only selected photos and videos. Camera and microphone support photos, videos with sound and voice notes. Speech and video audio transcription use on-device recognition on supported devices, without sending audio to a transcription server. Optional app lock uses Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode; the developer does not receive biometric data or your passcode. Apple Maps handles maps and place searches. Search terms, addresses, map requests and coordinates used to obtain a place name may be sent to Apple. Saving a place name only does not perform a place search. When automatic weather is on, the entry’s place or permitted current location is rounded to roughly one kilometre and sent to Apple Weather for current conditions and temperature. Diary text and media are not sent. Coordinates obtained only for weather are not saved with the entry. Turn off automatic weather in the app’s Settings. 4. Sharing and tracking

The developer does not sell diary content or use it to select ads. Map, weather, purchase, advertising and selected storage services process information under their respective privacy policies.

Google AdMob in the ad-supported version

The ad-supported version will display a banner below the tabs for users without the Feature Pack or an active monthly or annual plan. Purchase entitlements are checked before ads are prepared. Eligible paid users do not see ads. The app does not pass diary text, photos, videos, audio, saved locations or search terms to the advertising SDK.

The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect IP addresses (which may be used to estimate general location), device- or app-related identifiers, advertising and interaction data, and crash or performance diagnostics for advertising delivery, fraud prevention, measurement and analytics. Non-personalized advertising does not mean that no data is collected.

The app requests non-personalized ads and does not send its own user IDs to the advertising SDK. Where required, consent is requested before ads are prepared. Settings includes an advertising privacy-options control in regions where this is required. The existing Feature Pack or an active monthly or annual plan removes banner ads.

5. In-app purchases

Feature Pack and auto-renewable subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. The app checks purchase entitlement, but the developer does not receive or store your payment card details. Apple’s privacy policy applies to Apple’s processing of purchase information.

6. Backup and export

Manual backups and PDFs are created when you request them. Automatic backup is opt-in: after you choose a folder and enable it, backups run during app use if at least one day has passed since the last success. This is not continuous sync or a guarantee of background execution at a fixed time.

Backups are unencrypted JSON files containing entries, photos, videos, audio, locations, weather, bookmarks and Trash. App lock does not protect exported files. Deleting entries does not remove them from existing backups. Old backup files are not automatically deleted. You choose where to save or share them. The privacy policy of the service you select applies after a file is sent there.

7. Children’s privacy

The app is designed so the developer does not collect information that identifies its users.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when features or legal requirements change. Important changes will be described on this page.
